Community Spirit Barbecue
Instead of dunking donuts, we’ll be dunking people at the Community Spirit Barbecue on May 26th. If the dunk tank is calling your name, bring your pitching arm to Central City Plaza.
The RCMP District One Community (Whalley/City Centre) want to thank the RCMP for their sixty years of service to Surrey. And what better way to celebrate than with a Community Spirit Barbecue.
“As soon as we announced that we wanted to do a Community Spirit Barbecue to thank the RCMP, everyone stepped up to participate. We all appreciate the RCMP’s hard work in our community. Businesses and organizations are donating food, others are providing volunteers to assist with the activities,” says Bonnie Burnside, the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association representative on the committee. “Councillor Barinder Rasode will be attending and has graciously agreed to be one of the first to step into the dunk tank. Everyone is welcome to come out and join in the fun.”
The fun starts at 4:00pm, including entertainment, games, bouncy castle, face painting, contests, and a dunk tank. The RCMP will be on site showcasing their vehicles and equipment. Special guest, Safety Bear, will be handing out stickers. An ice-cream eating contest is planned so be sure to come by and watch the excitement.
This is a free community event so be sure to bring all your family and friends. All proceeds from the barbecue will go towards Surrey RCMP Youth Outreach Programs and North Surrey Lions Club “Mile of Toonies” initiative for Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation.
UPDATE: If there is a sixth game between the Canucks and the Sharks, we will have a large screen onsite so you can watch the game starting at 6 pm.
