Last year, Charan Sethi, one of the visionaries helping build Surrey’s new City Centre, decided that he wanted to host a block party to introduce residents moving into the Quattro development to their new neighbours. He asked for assistance from local community associations, the RCMP, the Downtown Surrey BIA and the North Surrey Lions to make it happen. A day of food, entertainment and activities for children was enjoyed by all.
It was so successful, he’s doing it again. On Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 11 am – 4 pm, Charan Sethi, with the help of the community groups, will be closing down Whalley Boulevard from 108 to 107A to throw another block party on the Boulevard in front of Quattro.
Q-Fest, the name of this celebration, is a family friendly community event that will feature free activities and entertainment for people of all ages. What festival be complete without a bouncy castle, face painter and crafts for the children?
The incredible line up of entertainment this year will feature a slew of fantastic performers including a show-and-tell of the incredible animal actors from Cinemazoo, dancers, singers and more.
Organizations and businesses from the community will be setting up interactive booths enriching visitors with information while festival-goers are encouraged to participate in dance workshops for people of all dance levels.
Q Fest welcomes people from Surrey and beyond. Come early with your friends and family for all the festivities, and take in all the culture Downtown Surrey has to offer.
