August 13th Movie Night: Ramona & Beezus

After a successful showing of Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 at Movies Under the Stars on Saturday, August 6th, the phone has been busy at the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association’s office with people asking the hot questions of the day: When is the next movie? What will it be?

This Saturday, August 13 the Holland Park movie is Ramona and Beezus starring Selena Gomez. Last weekend Gomez won five awards at the Teen Choice Awards and is definitely a favourite young artist who is sure to please the audience.

The adventures of young Ramona Quimby (Joey King) and her big sister Beezus (Selena Gomez) come to life in  Ramona and Beezus based on the best-selling books by Beverly Cleary. Ramona’s vivid imagination, boundless energy, and accident-prone antics keep everyone she meets on their toes. But her irrepressible sense of fun, adventure and mischief come in handy when she puts her mind to helping save her family’s home.

The movie starts at dusk, but come early for the pre-show festivities beginning at 4:30pm. Get your face painted and try your hand at various crafts. Local entertainers will be performing from 5pm until the movie begins at dusk. Be sure to stop by the North Surrey Lions Club BBQ for a burger and buttered popcorn (all proceeds to local charities) or Mr. Mom’s World for some perogies and a fruit tart before the movie starts. And presenting sponsor, Prospera Credit Union will be providing free bags of popcorn while supplies last.

Ramona and Beezus is the second of five great free movies at this year’s Movies Under the Stars at Holland Park. Be sure to catch Heyy Babyy (Bollywood Night), Tangled and Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never on August 19th, 20th, and 27th respectively. Movies Under the Stars is a celebration of community, diversity, local businesses and organizations.
