The Surrey International World Music Marathon is seeking cultural entertainers to take part in the exciting events happening September 28th-30th.
The home base of the events will be Central City, and will span the 13-mile runner’s loop, with stages and performance stations set up along the route, passing Holland Park, Green Timbers, Bear Creek Park, and Greenway Path.
Unique to this event are the “Cultural Music Miles,” with each mile dedicated to a different culture. The event miles include Jamaica, China, Colombia, Korea, Poland, India, the United Kingdom, Latin America, Africa, the Philippines, Europe, and the last mile of the race will be dedicated to showcasing local Surrey talent.
Whether a drummer, salsa dancer, bagpiper, or cultural enthusiast ready to wave your national flag, we encourage you to showcase your cultural pride at one of our miles.
Groups can choose to take on a full mile, providing décor, sporting cultural garb, and entertaining runners along the mile they “adopt”. Smaller groups can be placed along the route, teaming up with other cultural groups to share the mile. If your culture isn’t listed but you want to participate, let us know. We’ll make room for as many cultures as possible.
We are looking for all members of the community, whether a seasoned dance group, a school choir, or an individual with a unique talent to share.
Be proud of your heritage and adopt a cultural mile!
The Surrey Marathon is also seeking volunteers to fill hundreds of roles, providing an opportunity to gain valuable experience and engage in the community Positions and volunteer registration is available online.
