The Tree-Loving Lorax on Screen in Holland Park
Movie lovers and environmental enthusiasts are invited to join the Lorax as he fights for the forests Saturday, August 25th in Holland Park. Every Saturday in August, the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association has presented a different family-friendly film, with The Lorax wrapping up this year’s lineup.
Holland Park’s trees and greenery provide the perfect environment for this week’s film with an environmental preservation undertone. The movie will begin once it is dark, and pre-movie activities will start at 5pm.
Entertainment will include the popular Cinemazoo (6:15-7:15pm), BC Jr. Talent Search winners, and Drift Away, a local Surrey band. Free face painting and crafts will also be provided for youth and children.
As this week’s theme is sustainability, there will be a myriad of groups representing environmental interests. Among the interactive booths will be Surrey Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP), the Surrey Tree Team, and the Salmon Habitat Restoration Program (SHARP).
There will also be a variety of food vendors on site, including Olympia Pizza, and the always delicious North Surrey Lions Barbeque. Major event sponsor, Prospera Credit Union, will be providing the audience with free popcorn to enjoy as they watch the feature.
Children under 10 years old are invited to enter a draw to win one of two children’s bikes, generously donated by Whalley Printers There will also be a trivia contest for the kids before the movie begins.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and come out to the final Movies Under the Stars production of the summer this Saturday. Movies Under the Stars is organized by the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association, is presented by Prospera Credit Union.
