Surrey Marathon – September 30 – Traffic Advisory

The inaugural Surrey International World Music Marathon, presented by Central City takes place this Sunday, September 30th beginning at 7:00 am.

Runners will compete in the Boston-qualifying Full Marathon, while people of all athletic abilities are invited to participate in the Run Inn Half Marathon, Mayor’s 5km Run/Walk or the Century Group Kids Fun Run. The Prospera Credit Union Relay Race offers the opportunity for two-person relay teams for the Run Inn Half Marathon and four-person teams for the Full Marathon. Participants can get into the spirit by enjoying live music and entertainment all weekend long at Central City, as well as a Wellness Expo happening Saturday.

In addition to the running competition, the Surrey International World Music Marathon will celebrate Surrey’s diverse background during its ‘culture miles.’ Every mile of the race will feature a new cultural celebration with music, dancing and festivities encouraging runners along the way.

START/FINISH LINE: University Drive and 102nd Ave at Central City

EVENT START TIMES:

•          Full Marathon – 7:30am

•          Prospera Relay Race – Full Marathon – 7:30am

•          Prospera Relay Race – Half Marathon – 8:00am

•          Run Inn Half Marathon – 8:00am

•          Mayor’s 5K – 9:30am

•          Century Group Kids Fun Run – 11:00am

Detours and Road Closures will be in effect beginning at 7:00 am until approximately 2:00 pm on September 30th.

The majority of road closures and detours will be in effect from 7am-11am.

Skytrain will run an hour earlier and it is  recommended that people planning on attending the marathon, either as runners or spectators, park at Scott Road Station and Skytrain it to Surrey Central Station.
