Headline Performers Announced for Surrey’s Party for the Planet

It’s official. Surrey’s Party for the Planet headliners  Lights and Hey Ocean will perform at BC’s largest Earth Day celebration at Central City Plaza on Saturday, April 27, 2013.

Proudly presented by the TD Bank Group, this FREE one-day event starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs throughout the day until 9:00 p.m. boasting a diverse line-up of top-notch performers.

“Party for the Planet is a great community celebration which allows us to highlight some of the innovative environmental initiatives underway in Surrey, as well as enjoy some family-fun entertainment,” says Mayor Watts.

Juno award winning electro-rock-pop artist Lights first hit the music scene in 2008. Her self-titled debut album earned her a Juno for Best New Artist and she followed that up with a gold-selling album “The Listening”. After that, Lights was ready to open herself up to collaborations on her unexpectedly experimental album “Siberia”.

Often described as one of Canada’s best up-and-coming acts, Hey Ocean is a Juno Nominee this year for Breakthrough Group of the Year. They have an extraordinary talent for blending various musical styles into a brand of infectious pop that is uniquely their own.

Vancouver based pop-punk band Fighting for Ithaca, and 2011 Peak Performance finalists alternative country rock band The Matinée will also be rocking the stage along with Shane Philip, whose earthy sound is completely his own.

Lights and Hey Ocean will be hosting an autograph session on Saturday April 27th at 3:00 p.m. near Future Shop inside Central City Mall.

Earlier in the day, a unique variety of highly talented children’s performers will get kids dancing with performances by Music with Marnie, Woops-a-Daisy and Collabocall Productions hip hop entertainment.
