SFU’s award-winning campus in Surrey will be on full display for their 2014 Global Community Open House on Thursday, March 6th from 4:30-8:30pm. The Open House is a chance for SFU to showcase the vibrant appeal and cultural diversity of students and staff at their Surrey location.
“This is a showcase event for the campus, it not only draws prospective students and their families but visitors of all ages who can learn more about the campus and how SFU is engaging with the community,” says Steve Dooley, executive director of the campus.
“We’re a growing campus with strong community ties and research programs that are expanding in a wide range of fields – health, crime and clean energy among them – all reasons for us to celebrate and share these accomplishments.”
Dooley says the annual Open House is a great way for the campus to celebrate its wide range of community partnerships.
The evening features interactive exhibitions and hands-on activities from each SFU’s 8 faculties. Visitors will be able to take part in: robot battles, experience how music can aid pain management, test “wearable” technology, dress in ‘period’ costumes, catch live science experiments and interact with touchable sea creatures.
The main stage will present an array of cultural performances and entertainment. As the evening winds down, the stage will also be the focus of the prize draws that visitors can be entered in through out the evening. Register online before attending for a chance to win an iPad mini!
