What’s Showing at Holland Park this Summer?

Put down those phones and tablets, turn off those TVs, and bring the family to Holland Park in Surrey every Saturday in August! The Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association is proud to announce that Movies Under the Stars is growing this year thanks to generous support from Prospera Credit Union. The 11th Annual Movies Under the Stars will be marked by the addition of a fifth movie night!

There’s a fun-filled, family-friendly movie line-up planned this summer. Wreck-It Ralph starts off the summer movie series at Holland Park on Saturday, August 1, followed by Home on August 8, How to Train Your Dragon 2 on August 15, Cinderella on August 22 and Big Hero 6 wraps up the summer on August 29.

As always, the event is free for all to enjoy. Each movie begins at dusk, but everyone is invited to arrive early to participate in fun activities and watch great performances by local entertainers. Staff from local branches of Prospera Credit Union will be handing out free popcorn (by donation to the Surrey Christmas Bureau) as attendees settle in to enjoy the movie.

If you come early, bring a picnic dinner or support the North Surrey Lions Club, who will once again be barbecuing hamburgers and hot dogs, with proceeds donated to local charities.

Prospera Credit Union has been a sponsor of Movies Under the Stars since the event moved to Holland Park in 2008 and it is presented as part of their BC-wide Cinema Under the Stars summer film series.

“We’re very pleased to announce that Prospera Credit Union has signed on to support Movies Under the Stars for another five years,” said Elizabeth Model, CEO of the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association. “It is events like this that help build community.”

“We’re happy to join together with the Surrey Downtown Business Improvement Association to keep Movies Under the Stars going strong,” said Waheed Hirji, Interim President and CEO of Prospera Credit Union. “It’s not easy to find an activity the whole family can enjoy together so this is our way of giving back and making summer a little more fun for everyone. We hope you’ll join us!”
