Kicking off the Holiday Spirit – Spirit of the Season

We were dancing in the streets on City Parkway on Saturday night for Spirit of the Season.

At 6pm the dance parade began that featured local studios, schools, and dance groups dancing along City Parkway from City Hall Plaza to Central City Plaza. This multi-cultural holiday celebration of the performing arts had the parade audience clapping and cheering them on.

The event began with live entertainment, free facepainting, and balloon art in City Hall Plaza. The major hit of the evening, other than the parade of course, was the free cookie decorating offered for the afternoon by Drake Medox College. The Surrey Animal Resource Center was also on site accepting donations.

The performance by Tamanawis Secondary Drumline was the perfect send off marking the end of the live entertainment and the parade that was soon beginning.

Everyone in the parade, the acclaimed Praise TEAM, DRS Breakdance, SFU Bhangra, SFU Dance Team, Spiral Dance, and Just 4 Kicks, put their heart and soul into wonderful dance routines.

At the end of the parade a Party on the Street near Central City Plaza began with a live DJ and a performance by DRS Breakdance. The dance floor then opened for anyone wanting to dance to the music, and all ages and skill levels let loose.

As everything wrapped up there was much smiles and laughter from all those who participate. It was the perfect way to get into the spirit of the season!

Missed it? Not to worry! The event will also be on December 5th with a different line up of live entertainment and parade members.
