Gingerbread Village – Winners Announced

Our community judges have visited Gingerbread Village 2018 and we are pleased to announce the following winners.

Secondary Schools
4th place  $100 is awarded to McNair Secondary School
3rd place  $250 is awarded to Garibaldi Secondary School – Mackenzie & Joseph
2nd place $500 is awarded to Garibaldi Secondary School – Regan & Emma
1st place  $750 is awarded to Garibaldi Secondary School – Alejandra & Lucia

Elementary Schools
2nd place (tie) $250 is awarded to Panorama Park Elementary School – Division 6
2nd place (tie) $250 is awarded to Panorama Elementary School Mrs. Jacobs Grade 2 class (our youngest competitors)
1st place $500 is awarded to KB Woodward Elementary Grade 4 Division 8
We have a special award in this category to Hyland Elementary who came up with the idea of have a Surrey Centre of Science. Their award will be a field trip to Surrey’s Med Tech District which will be arranged for 2019.

Non-profits and charities

Competition was fierce in this category. Only ½ point separate first and second place and one point separated a tie for third place.

2nd place  $250 is awarded to SOS Children’s Village
1st place $500 is awarded to Elim Village

Community/Service
2nd place $250 is awarded to Guildford Athletic Club
1st place $500 is awarded to Fleetwood Christian Reformed Church

Business
2nd place $250 is awarded to BC Lions
1st place $500 is awarded to Hamilton Duncan who is donating their winnings to the Surrey Food Bank.

Professional (new this year)
1st place $500 is awarded to Just Cakes Bakeshop

University/College
2nd place $250 is awarded to Kyla Fraser from SFU
1st place $500 is awarded to KPU – Marketing and Advancement Departments for their creation that depicts their new location at Civic Plaza in Downtown Surrey.

Open
2nd place $250 is awarded to Yas Nakamoto
1st place $500 is awarded to Cloverdale Skating Club

We would like to thank everyone who entered this year’s competition and congratulate all the winners.
We would like to remind everyone that the People’s Choice Award will be announced on Monday December 17 in the afternoon through our social media. Voting for the People’s Choice Award continues until Sunday, December 16 at 6pm.

Encourage all your friends and family members to come out and vote for your entry – the winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive $500. Each vote is $1 and all money will be donated to the Surrey Christmas Bureau.
