Community Conversations is back and excited to bring you exciting new topics this fall! Our first topic uncovers how communities can remove the social and racial barriers that immigrants still face today. What does it mean to an immigrant in the age of COVID-19? How accessible and intersectionally connected are our communities towards providing new opportunities for immigrants? And, how can we bridge understanding between immigrants and long-time Canadians? Join us on Tuesday, October 6th from 7:00pm-8pm to unravel how you can continue to remove barriers within our community. Register your spot FOR FREE today! Community Conversations will be held via Zoom. All registered participants will be provided a link.
The Downtown Surrey BIA is proud to have Ewa Karczewska from the Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISSofBC) as our first speaker for our Community Conversations series! Ewa has been a part of the ISSofBC since 1994. As the ISSofBC’s General Manager and specialist in Community Relations, she is passionate in identifying existing societal issues, creating client-oriented services, and finding resolution for those seeking it. Ewa also serves in numerous BC-wide regional committees based on furthering the advocacy and protection for multiculturalism. In order to achieve human betterment and growth, Ewa encourages that individuals should step outside of their silos and be open to being uncomfortable when discussing hard conversations. We’re looking forward to having Ewa teach us on how to break barriers for those who continue to live through challenging experiences.
