Movies Under the Stars

Movies Under The Stars is a series of fun-filled evenings featuring arts and crafts, live entertainment, food and family fun topped by an outdoor movie under the summer night sky.

August 2 – Despicable Me 2

Holland Park was flooded with minions, with a total of 1500 movie goers. Children even had the opportunity to meet a real-life minion and wasted no time in delightedly chasing him around the park. This night was truly a tribute to young talent. Jada and Arianna-Abigayle dazzled the crowed with their big voices and twin sisters, Alana and Brianna, had the crowd memorized with their unbeatable harmony.

August 9 – Rio 2

The following week Holland Park was a zoo- literally! Cinemazoo brought an assortment of critters to Holland Park in honour of the exotic movie Rio 2. Here, children crowed around to learn about all sorts of exotic animals. That night, four thousand movie goers huddled around the screen as we brought the amazon to Surrey with the movie Rio 2.

August 16 – Lego Movie

2200 movie goers came out that night, many dressed in their PJs as we tried to break the record for the Largest Pajama Party. In the playful spirit of building and the creativity Lego inspires, movie goers also brought cans of food. These cans of food were used to construct a giant Lego block that was later donated to the Surrey Food Bank.

August 23 – Frozen

Hundreds of little princesses were spotted running around Holland Park as we encouraged movie goers to dress up as their favourite princesses. There were squeals of delight from our young princesses as they got to meet and greet Queen Elsa herself. The lovely Queen Elsa capped off the wonderful performances that night by Norden the Magician and Tyson Venegas, with a Frozen-Sing-A-Long. The crowd of nearly 6,000 people came together and joined their voices together to sing the hit song “Let it Go”. In addition to our nightly draw, two children also won brand new bicycles courtesy of Whalley Printers and hundreds of children got to take home a teddy bear thanks to our Whalley Printers’ Teddy Bear Toss.
