Never did we expect the incredible response we had this Canada Day! As we were setting up our arts and crafts tent, aspiring artists and crafters arrived early and stayed late. We could barely keep up with the supply and demand throughout the day! We were making visors to shield the sun (or the rain) and bookmarks to decorate your books. But, our best selling craft that were our maple leaf wands. The day was spent scotch taping, glitter glueing, ribbon tying and all kinds of tomfoolery.
Intern Marie managed to venture the Cloverdale grounds and took some pictures. They should be on the website in a couple of days. Intern Sarah was most excited about the proximity of the face painting station and sported a nice looking design all day. Intern Melanie experienced nostalgia as Charlotte Diamond charmed the children (and herself) on the main stage.
We would also like to send a special, special thanks to all of our volunteers that day. Without their help and enthusiasm, we would have had a lot of upset kids with no crafts in their hands and sadness in their hearts. Thanks to all who made Canada’s 143rd birthday bash the biggest and best one yet!
